Guest Speaker - Barbara Cartwright

Our special guest speaker for the evening is CEO of the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies, Barbara Cartwright. The Canadian Federation of Humane Societies is the only national organization representing humane societies and SPCAs in Canada.

They bring together those who work with and care for animals to promote respect and humane treatment toward all animals. Since foundation in 1957, they've earned a solid reputation and enviable credibility as the ‘go-to’ national voice on animal welfare issues for industry, media, government, non-governmental organizations, and the public.

They work collaboratively and cooperatively with key stakeholders based on the premise that they can have a greater impact creating positive change by being a part of the process instead of being apart from it.

The Power of Pets by Marybeth Haines

Why can the death of a pet often feel as painful as if it were a family member or friend? How can you grieve and heal from the loss of your beloved animal companion? The Power of Pets empowers people to take the necessary steps to transform grief into healing.

Our pets are our family and friends. We feel the loss so strongly because of the emotional connection and unconditional love we receive from them.

In this book, you will learn ways to promote personal growth and daily practices to help you become more connected after the loss of your pet. This translates to not only a more heartfelt experience, but greater understanding, and a more focused approach in healing from pet loss.
